A reader asks: “Should I install an evil AI in my giant robot?”

At first, no.

When you first invade a country or continent you’ve got a lot on your plate.

Making sure the death rays are all operational, recruiting enough henchmen, implementing sinister assassination plots, etc…

The last thing you need is to get distracted trying to work out all the bugs in an evil AI.

Now, once you get past the initial invasion and it’s time to rule, then it’s time to get that evil AI installed.

There’s no point in becoming a supreme ruler if all your time gets taken up fighting insurgents and keeping the population subjugated.

With an evil AI installed your giant robot can take care of the mundane day to day stuff and you can relax and enjoy being king.

WARNING! an evil AI is not foolproof.

Next time I’ll discuss the all to common mistakes in AI design that even the most brilliant evil geniuses make.
